英文午會

2026-01-07

We held an engaging afternoon assembly focused on the vital theme of empathy—Seeing things from others’ point of view, which is defined as making a conscious effort to understand another person’s feelings, thoughts, and unique perspectives on a given situation. To bring the theme to life in a vivid and relatable way, we invited six students to perform on stage, acting out three everyday school scenarios that perfectly illustrate what it means to put oneself in others’ shoes, and teaching all students simple yet profound lessons about thoughtfulness and kindness toward those around them.
In the first student-performed scene, Helia is left upset while trying to complete her homework in class, driving home the core lesson: offer help to others whenever you are able. The second stage scene features Jason sitting alone on the playground, eager to join his classmates in play, a moment that reminds everyone to always think about how others feel—a small, kind action is often enough to cheer someone up and make them feel included in the community. The third student-led scene is set in the school library, where Nicolas grows annoyed as he struggles to focus on reading amid distractions, emphasizing that we must be mindful of others at all times, as every member of our school deserves a quiet space to study and concentrate.
Throughout the assembly, the key message of putting oneself in others’ shoes was consistently reinforced, and the student performances made this important value tangible and easy to understand. The assembly encouraged all students to carry these empathy-driven lessons into their daily school lives, act with care and consideration, and together foster a more harmonious, supportive, and kind school community for everyone.
